Target Audience Research- Women's Health
With about 37 million subscribers in total, Women's Health attracts a large audience directed towards women and has a very feminine atmosphere. Reaching about 12 million people through print media, 9 million through digital media, and 16 million followers on social media, Women's Health magazine is able to promote a healthy lifestyle through fitness tips, celebrity influencers, and overall inspiring people to stay in shape. Their demographic consists of 16.3 million women and a total of 18.7 million people in total. Most people who are interested in the magazine are above 35 years old but they don't target their issues towards a specific age so the age range is targeted around millenials and up. Women's Health constantly does partnerships with different brands with the use of product placement as one example. Specifically, there was an article on their website, as part of their marketing plan, titled, "How I'll finally make it to race day, injury free" which was written for Simplyhealth and another article, "What it really means to live clean for a week" written in partnership with Dyson.
As part of their marketing plan, Women's Health utilizes these partnerships as a way to update their content and appeal to their middle aged audiences.
As for their social media methods, Women's Health uses hashtags and username tags to promote their print media. This is an example of their use of synergy because in the caption from the post about Hillary Duff and her child, it references the bio of their Instagram where the audience can find a URL to the magazine's website. This is essential to their marketing plan because it shows how each form of media is benefiting from each other. Additionally, through looking at Women's Health, Self, and Shape magazines, I can apply their methods to our magazines marketing plan with a similar target audience. By promoting topics surrounding wellness and health, as well keeping a consistent theme between all of our issues, my group can successfully market our product if we appeal to specific audiences. As we work to brand and sell our magazine, I can see that it take more than a visually appealing issue to sell the magazine, it must have consistency and have relevant topics that can appeal to multiple demographics.
